Return of the random mixtape!!!

It's BACK!!! Due to a myriad of other things I've been out of the blogging game for a while now but it's all about the comeback nowadays innit? So here's a freshly brewed random mixtape for your listening pleasure featuring everything from Italian space monster music, a pre-megastardom White Zombie in their scuzz rock phase and sinister/blissed out ambience. I'll try and keep these coming on a more regular basis, might even rope in some guest mixers. Enjoy!

Dub me wrong

Here's a cracking wee mix sent over by Finnish wildman of noise Boom Edan. In an inspired move B.E has gone down the dub path following a visit to Trinidad. This stuff is great, sounds like the kind of soundsystem you'd expect to be playing at a Krokodil flat party. CHECK DIS!!!

Rabid dogs

These guys have only just come on my radar recently. Class hardcore NY style, I bet their singer knows the Milano Mosh. Their LP is 21 minutes of chest beating fun and I can highly recommend picking it up if you're feeling manly enough.

Suck Some Demo Crumbs

Another magic demo tape find, this time from the wonderful Blogged and Quartered. I've got a bit of a thing for late 80's early 90's New York Hardcore, especially the metal leaning stuff. I always found the scene equally brilliant and amusing, what with all the tough-guy-life-on-the-streets chest beating that went on. Indeed, Life of Dreams by Crumbsuckers easily sits in my top ten LPs. Here's a selection of demos from the period immediately prior to that wee cracker of an album. You should check out the Blogged and Quartered post for a considerably more informed run down of the content. Anyway, stick this on yer cans, get on those goofy long shorts and take the pitbull for walkies.

Don't just sit there!

I hope the guys at these other sites don't mind me sharing these demo's, but if there's any beef just get in touch. Here's a live set from '88, nice hair guys!

Pre-Brown Boogie Down

I'm not wanting to get in the habit of posting downloads on here but there's some stuff that I suspect will never emerge for sale. Such as this pre-"Brown" Grotus demo I found over on the stupendous Terminal Escape blog. Grotus were one of the first Alternative Tentacles bands other than DK and NoMeansNo that I checked out in the early nineties. Horribly underrated then and now. This demo's raw but captures the heavy multi-sensory vibe of the band perfectly. Get it in your luggs and thanks to TE for setting it loose on the world.

Get your butt back on the sofa

Kyuss Lives again (sort of...)

Seems that the Kyuss Lives gang are back minus kerrazzee Nick and trading under a different name. I missed out on their most recent show in Glasgow due to a overwhelming fear of them sullying my memories of nodding out to "Blues from the Red Sun" as a 'blissfully confused' teenager. Should of gone, by all accounts it was ace. Still, this new stuff sounds pretty darn tooting to my battered ears and the forthcoming album surely can't be any worse than the stinky-guff nonsense being pumped out by Tosh Homme nowadays. SPARK WAN UP!!!
